What Opened and What Closed

Summary

Nightlife listings go stale faster than almost any other local information, and they go stale quietly. This is the record of what we have verified has changed — 3 openings and 3 closures or relocations, each with its evidence attached.

The reason this page exists is the failure mode it documents. A business closes; the delivery platforms, the directories and the magazine round-ups carry on listing it; and because several sources agree, it looks verified. It is not. Agreement between sources that all copied the same listing is not corroboration, and the only cure is checking what the operator itself currently says.

We hold closures to a higher bar than openings. A closure needs either a primary report or the operator’s own channels no longer listing the location — preferably both. Where we know a business has gone but cannot source when, we say that rather than estimate.

Closed, moved, or under a new name

Hurts Donut — 320 Park Central West

Closed; date not independently confirmed

The downtown location has closed and the operator's Springfield presence consolidated onto Sunshine Street. The Park Central West address does not appear on the company's own locations page. Numerous third-party listings — delivery platforms, local directories and magazine listings — still present it as an open, around-the-clock downtown destination. It is not one.

Since then: Operations relocated to the Sunshine Street store.

Zan the Club

March 2024

Closed in March 2024. The building did not stay empty: a new operator took it on with a new concept and a new production build.

Since then: The address is now CTRL.

Recently opened

A venue appears here only where we hold evidence of a genuine opening or a material relaunch. A refurbishment, a new menu or a change of decor is not an opening, and treating it as one is how “new” loses its meaning.

New restaurant and rooftop bar at Plaza Towers, opened in the first quarter of 2026 under AMP Recreation. A new build-out, not a rebrand of an existing bar.

Mumbles1888

February 2026

New pub concept opened in early February 2026 by Springfield Brewing Company and Ty Iechyd Da in the former Ruthies space. A new operator and a new concept in the building, not a remodel of a continuing business.

CTRL1

January 2026

Opened as a new nightclub in the building previously occupied by Zan the Club, which closed in March 2024. A new operator, a new concept and a new production build — not a remodel.
