The Best Nightlife in Springfield, Missouri

By SGF After Dark Editorial DeskPublished Last reviewed Methodology

The short answer

The best nightlife in Springfield, Missouri is concentrated in a walkable downtown zone around Park Central Square, with a handful of significant venues deliberately outside it. Our top five for 2026 are Martha's Vineyard, CTRL, The Regency Live, Club Rodeo Springfield and Vantage Rooftop Lounge & Conservatory.

We researched more than sixty venues, verified 26 as currently active, and scored each against the same published 100-point rubric. Eight venues that still appear on other Springfield nightlife lists have closed, or moved without confirming a new address. We excluded them and documented why.

Category winners

Each award is judged independently against its own published criteria, from a named comparison pool. A venue can win more than one where the evidence supports it, and no category was created in order to hand out an award.

  • Best Overall Nightlife

    Martha's Vineyard

It finishes first on the rubric with 85 of 100. Fixed weekly drag programming, a verified 18-and-over door, published VIP pricing from $100 and more than thirty years in the same downtown room give it the most complete case of any venue here.

Judged against 5 venues. Runner-up: CTRL, The Regency Live

  • Best New Nightlife Venue

    CTRL

Of the three venues that qualify as new, CTRL is the only one built as a nightlife room from the ground up, and it scores highest of the three by 15 points. Three separately programmed nights a week and the most clearly documented production specification in this guide — custom-mapped LED, Void Acoustics, lighting and effects — put it ahead of a restaurant rooftop and a football pub on nightlife terms.

    Judged against 3 venues. Runner-up: Scratch & Co., Mumbles1888

  • Best Atmosphere and Production

    CTRL

It holds the highest Atmosphere and Venue Design score in the guide at 14 of 15. Custom-mapped LED visuals, a Void Acoustics system, lighting, beams, lasers and CO₂ are stated as a synchronised production rather than separate installations, and no other venue here publishes a comparable specification.

Judged against 6 venues. Runner-up: Vantage Rooftop Lounge & Conservatory, The Regency Live

  • Best LGBTQ+ Nightlife

    Martha's Vineyard

The most consistently programmed drag calendar in the city, a verified 18-and-over door, and a documented role in Springfield's LGBTQ+ community stretching back to 1994.

Judged against 3 venues. Runner-up: MIX Ultralounge, Hour House

  • Best Live-Music Venue

    The Regency Live

A stated 1,000 capacity across main floor, balcony and VIP mezzanine, a continuously booked touring calendar, and a room whose sightlines hold up from the back wall. Local reporting identified it as one of the rooms that absorbed shows when The Outland Complex closed downtown.

Judged against 6 venues. Runner-up: The Riff, Nathan P. Murphy's

  • Best Cocktail Bar

    Vantage Rooftop Lounge & Conservatory

A craft cocktail programme supported by a raw bar and charcuterie kitchen, in a rooftop conservatory setting with no equivalent in the city — and it publishes every fact a guest needs in advance, earning full marks on Information Quality.

Judged against 6 venues. Runner-up: The Golden Girl Rum Club, Sweet Boy's Neighborhood Bar

  • Best Dance-Floor Experience

    Club Rodeo Springfield

Three nights a week of country programming built around floor space you can genuinely line dance on, with dance lessons included — and it is the only venue in this guide that publishes its full door pricing in advance, at every tier.

Judged against 5 venues. Runner-up: CTRL, Martha's Vineyard

  • Best VIP and Group Night Out

    Martha's Vineyard

It is the only venue in this guide that publishes what a table actually costs — private VIP booths with bottle service from $100, including premium liquor and mixers — and it states that it books birthdays and private celebrations. CTRL's reserved sections are the stronger production experience, but its pricing is not published, and a group cannot budget against an unpublished number.

Judged against 5 venues. Runner-up: CTRL, Classic's Yard

  • Best Brewery Night Out

    Hold Fast Brewing

A weekly live jazz residency with no cover, running to a fixed rotation of local bands, plus trivia, music bingo and rotating food trucks through the rest of the week. No other brewery here programmes at that frequency.

    Judged against 5 venues. Runner-up: Mumbles1888, Mother's Brewing Company

  • Best Neighborhood Bar

    Moon City Pub

Reopened in August 2024 by three of its own former employees, and running live music, open mic and trivia from a small C-Street room with a real kitchen behind it.

Judged against 5 venues. Runner-up: The Flea, Sweet Boy's Neighborhood Bar

  • Best Latin Night

    OXO Bar & Grill

Sábado Caliente is the most clearly defined recurring Latin night we could verify in Springfield — every Saturday, no cover, across reggaeton, bachata, cumbia and salsa, with dancers of all levels explicitly welcomed.

Judged against 3 venues. Runner-up: CTRL

  • Best Rooftop Night Out

    Vantage Rooftop Lounge & Conservatory

A glazed conservatory and an open-air terrace operating as one venue, with semi-private cabanas seating up to ten and a kitchen programme behind the bar. It is also the only one of the three that publishes an age policy.

Judged against 3 venues. Runner-up: Eyrie Rooftop Bar & Kitchen, Scratch & Co.

  • Best Date-Night Bar

    The Golden Girl Rum Club

A rum specialist with its own kitchen and a patio opening onto Park Central Square — the most central address in the guide, and a room built for talking rather than shouting.

Judged against 5 venues. Runner-up: Vantage Rooftop Lounge & Conservatory, Where House Bar

Ranked number 1

Martha's Vineyard

219 W Olive St, Springfield, MO 65806

85 / 100·nightclubs

Martha's Vineyard is a downtown nightclub built around drag performance and an open dance floor, and it is the most consistently programmed room on this list. It is a long-standing fixture of Springfield's LGBTQ+ nightlife and, unusually for the city, it admits guests aged 18 and older.

Why it ranks here

  • Its weekly calendar is fixed and public: drag shows on Friday and Saturday nights, with additional weeknight performances during many weeks. Very few Springfield venues can point to programming that reliable.
  • The identity is unambiguous. There is no confusion about what kind of night this room is designed to deliver, which is the single strongest signal in our Distinctive Experience category.
  • It is one of very few venues in this ranking with a verified 18-and-older door policy, which materially widens who can actually use it.
  • It publishes VIP bottle-service pricing from $100 — one of only a handful of Springfield venues that tells you what a table will cost before you arrive.
  • The layout — large open floor, VIP lounge, performance stage — is arranged for a crowd and a show rather than retrofitted from a restaurant.

What to know

  • Doors are listed Monday through Saturday, 7:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.
  • Drag shows are listed at 10:45 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Show times can move, so check the venue's channels before you plan around one.
  • The venue is listed as 18 and older. Missouri law still sets 21 for alcohol service.
  • VIP booths with bottle service are published from $100. No general cover charge is published, so budget for one.
  • The venue takes bookings for birthdays and private celebrations.

Best for. Guests who want drag performance and a real dance floor in the same night, in a room with a long-standing reputation for being welcoming.

Not ideal for. Someone specifically looking for a quiet, conversation-led cocktail evening.

Ranked number 2

CTRL

311 S Patton Ave, Springfield, MO 65806

84 / 100·nightclubs

CTRL is a production-led nightclub on South Patton Avenue running three distinct nights a week: Latin Thursday, Hip-Hop Friday and a full-production Saturday. Its technical specification — synchronised LED visuals, a Void Acoustics system and choreographed lighting — is the most clearly documented of any venue in this ranking.

Why it ranks here

  • The room is engineered rather than decorated. Synchronised LED visuals, a Void Acoustics sound system and choreographed lighting are stated as core infrastructure, and that is a genuinely different proposition from a bar that installed a speaker stack.
  • Three named nights a week, each with its own musical identity, is a level of programming definition most Springfield venues do not attempt.
  • Reserved sections with a dedicated host and expedited entry give groups a way to plan a night rather than queue and hope.
  • It has closed part of its information gap since our last review — a conditional age policy, parking, rideshare and a phone number are now published — but exact hours and cover pricing still are not, and that deduction applies to every venue equally.

What to know

  • Open Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The Saturday main event is listed to begin at 11:30 p.m.
  • The venue does not publish full opening and closing times. Check its channels before you go.
  • The age policy varies by night. The venue asks guests to check the current event on its calendar and to bring valid government photo ID. Confirm for your date rather than relying on third-party listings.
  • Parking is downtown lots and street parking; the venue states rideshare drop-off is at the front.
  • No cover pricing is published. Reserved sections are booked in advance through the venue.
  • The address, 311 S Patton Ave, was previously Zan the Club, which closed in March 2024.

Best for. Guests who want a full production nightclub experience — lighting, sound and visuals treated as the main event — and groups booking a reserved section.

Not ideal for. Someone who needs to know the exact closing time and cover charge before leaving the house, since neither is published.

Ranked number 3

The Regency Live

307 Park Central East, Springfield, MO 65806

82 / 100·live music

The Regency Live is downtown Springfield's largest dedicated concert room, with a stated capacity of 1,000 across a main floor, balcony and VIP mezzanine. It runs a continuous touring calendar of music and comedy on Park Central East.

Why it ranks here

  • Scale with intimacy is a hard combination, and the published layout — 850 on the main floor, 150 in the balcony and mezzanine — is arranged to keep sightlines short.
  • The booking calendar is genuinely continuous rather than occasional, which is what separates a concert venue from a bar that sometimes has bands.
  • Architectural detail is a real part of the experience: sixteen-foot ceilings, black rock pillars, and large glass roll-up doors that open the façade and join the front lounge to the patio.
  • When The Outland Complex closed its downtown location, local reporting identified The Regency Live as one of the rooms absorbing its shows — a useful independent signal of its current standing.

What to know

  • There are no fixed opening hours. The venue operates to its event calendar, ticketed through Opendate.
  • Age policy is not published and varies by show. Check the individual event listing.
  • Stated capacity is 1,000 — 850 main auditorium plus 150 balcony and mezzanine.
  • Parking information is not published on the venue's site; see our downtown parking guide.

Best for. Seeing a touring act or a comedy bill in a room where the back wall still feels close to the stage.

Not ideal for. A spontaneous walk-in night out, since most of what happens here is ticketed in advance.

Ranked number 4

Club Rodeo Springfield

2032 W Bennett St, Springfield, MO 65807

81 / 100·dance clubs

Club Rodeo is Springfield's country nightclub: a large dance floor, line dancing, DJ sets and live country concerts across Thursday, Friday and Saturday. It is also the most transparent venue in this ranking, publishing its age policy, cover pricing, dress code and hours openly.

Why it ranks here

  • Very few venues anywhere publish their full door economics in advance. Club Rodeo lists every cover tier, the late-entry surcharge and the age policy on its own FAQ, and that transparency is worth real points in two separate rubric categories.
  • The programming is dense: themed nights across three days, line dance lessons, cornhole tournaments, weekend happy hour and touring country acts.
  • The concept is complete rather than decorative — dance floor, grill, large smoking patio and table reservations all serve the same idea.
  • It loses points only on location: at 2032 W Bennett St it is a drive from downtown, and it cannot be folded into a walking night.

What to know

  • Open Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 7:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.
  • 18 to enter, 21 to drink.
  • Published cover: $10 for 21 and over, $15 for women aged 18–20, $18 for men aged 18–20, plus $5 for entry after 11:30 p.m. Pricing can change for special events.
  • Dress code is described by the venue as very casual, and it reserves the right to refuse service.
  • Plan on driving or a rideshare — this is not a downtown walk-up.

Best for. Line dancing and country nights, and for 18-to-20-year-olds who want a real nightclub floor rather than a bar.

Not ideal for. Anyone building a walkable downtown night, since it sits away from the downtown core.

Ranked number 5

Vantage Rooftop Lounge & Conservatory

305 E Walnut St, Springfield, MO 65806

80 / 100·cocktail bars

Vantage is the rooftop lounge and conservatory above Hotel Vandivort, combining European art-deco styling and live greenery indoors with open-air seating and semi-private cabanas outside. It runs a craft cocktail list alongside a raw bar, charcuterie programme and small plates.

Why it ranks here

  • The physical setting has no close equivalent in Springfield: a glass conservatory and an open-air rooftop operating as one venue, with cabanas seating up to ten.
  • It is one of the few venues in this ranking that publishes everything a guest needs in advance — hours, age policy and menu — which earns full marks in Information Quality.
  • The food programme is unusually serious for a bar, with a raw bar described by the venue as the freshest in southwest Missouri, plus a charcuterie and cheese programme.
  • It ranks below the top three because it is an atmosphere venue rather than an entertainment venue: the programming score reflects seasonal events rather than a weekly calendar.

What to know

  • Open Tuesday and Wednesday 4:00 p.m. to midnight, and Thursday to Saturday 4:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.
  • All guests must be at least 21 years of age — stated by the venue.
  • Semi-private open-air cabanas seat groups of up to ten.
  • It is a rooftop, so weather shapes the experience more than it does at street level.
  • Note a source conflict: some directories list this venue at 260 E McDaniel St. The venue's own address is 305 E Walnut St.

Best for. A date night or a small group who want a genuinely designed room, a serious cocktail list and a view over downtown.

Not ideal for. Anyone whose night depends on a dance floor.

Ranked number 6

Hold Fast Brewing

235 N Kimbrough Ave, Springfield, MO 65806

80 / 100·breweries and taprooms

Hold Fast Brewing is a downtown brewery whose Tuesday jazz night has become an institution: live jazz from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., every week, with no cover. The rest of the calendar carries trivia, music bingo, rotating live music and daily food trucks.

Why it ranks here

  • Weekly, reliable, free live music is rarer than it sounds. The Tuesday jazz residency runs to a fixed rotation of local bands and has built its own following.
  • No cover, ever, for the jazz night, combined with rotating food trucks on site, puts it among the highest value scores in this ranking.
  • The wider calendar is genuinely varied — books and brews, music bingo, trivia — rather than one event repeated.
  • It is not a late-night venue, and the score reflects that: the taproom closes while the clubs are still filling.

What to know

  • Taproom hours are Monday to Thursday 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday noon to 11:00 p.m., and Sunday noon to 6:00 p.m.
  • Jazz night runs Tuesdays, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with no cover.
  • Food comes from rotating food trucks rather than an in-house kitchen.
  • The operating website is hfbrewing.com. A separate domain, holdfastbrewing.com, currently shows only a placeholder page.

Best for. A Tuesday night with live jazz, no cover and no obligation to shout over the room.

Not ideal for. A late night — the taproom closes earlier than the clubs.

Ranked number 7

The Golden Girl Rum Club

137 Park Central Square, Springfield, MO 65806

78 / 100·cocktail bars

The Golden Girl Rum Club is a tropical-inspired bar and kitchen on Park Central Square, built around scratch cocktails and a deep rum selection. It has a kitchen of its own and a patio opening directly onto the square.

Why it ranks here

  • It is a specialist. Building a bar around rum and committing to scratch-made cocktails gives it a clear identity in a market where most bars are generalists.
  • Its position on Park Central Square makes it the most naturally walkable venue in this ranking — it is the obvious first or last stop on a downtown night.
  • Having its own kitchen alongside the bar programme means a full evening works here without leaving.
  • It ranks where it does because programming is menu-led: there is no weekly calendar of events to score against venues that run one.

What to know

  • Open Tuesday to Thursday 5:00 p.m. to midnight, and Friday and Saturday 5:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.
  • The venue states it is not a tiki bar, despite what several directories say. Expect a rum-forward cocktail programme rather than a tiki theme.
  • No age policy is published.
  • The patio opens onto Park Central Square, which is the centre of downtown foot traffic.

Best for. A drinks-led evening on the square where the cocktail list is the reason you came.

Not ideal for. A late-night dance floor.

77 / 100·live music

Nathan P. Murphy's is a downtown basement bar and live music room — the Murfdome — on South Campbell Avenue. It is described in local listings as downtown Springfield's longest-running live music venue, and it books local, regional and national acts four nights a week.

Why it ranks here

  • Longevity in a live music room is a meaningful signal, and the Murfdome has been hosting bands downtown for long enough to be treated as a landmark by local booking directories.
  • Four nights a week of live music, in the downtown core, at low or no cost, fills a gap that ticketed rooms cannot.
  • The basement setting gives the venue a character that cannot be manufactured — it reads as a music room first and a bar second.
  • It is scored down on Information Quality: there is no official website, and hours are only available from third-party listings.

What to know

  • Third-party listings show Wednesday to Saturday, 7:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. These hours are not confirmed by the venue.
  • There is no independent official website. The venue's social page is the working channel.
  • Age policy is not published.
  • It is downtown on South Campbell, walkable from Park Central Square.

Best for. Local and regional bands in a basement room with decades of history behind it.

Not ideal for. Anyone who needs published hours and a ticket link before committing to a night.

MIX Ultralounge

1221 E St Louis St, Springfield, MO 65802

75 / 100·lgbtq nightlife

MIX Ultralounge is an established LGBTQ+ lounge and dance bar on East St Louis Street, open seven nights a week with drag entertainment and no cover charge at any time.

Why it ranks here

  • Seven nights a week is the widest availability in this ranking. Most Springfield nightlife runs Thursday to Saturday; MIX opens Monday through Sunday.
  • It publishes exactly what a guest needs to know — always 21 and over, never a cover — and does so unambiguously on its own site.
  • Drag entertainment is a standing part of the programme rather than an occasional booking.
  • It scores lower on location than the downtown venues, and lower on programming than venues that publish a fixed weekly calendar.

What to know

  • Open Monday to Saturday 5:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., and Sunday 6:00 p.m. to midnight.
  • Always 21 and over.
  • Never a cover charge — stated by the venue.
  • The specific weekly drag schedule is not published; check the venue's channels for show nights.

Best for. A no-cover night with drag entertainment and a dance floor, seven nights a week.

Not ideal for. Guests under 21 — the venue is strictly 21 and over.

The Riff

1900 W Sunset St, Springfield, MO 65807

74 / 100·live music

The Riff is a mid-size live music room on West Sunset Street with a stated capacity of around 500, opened in 2018. It books touring and local bills continuously, and absorbed part of the calendar displaced when The Outland Complex closed its downtown location.

Why it ranks here

  • Local reporting identified The Riff as one of the rooms that took on shows after The Outland Complex closed downtown — an independent signal that it is both active and trusted by promoters.
  • Supporting local talent alongside touring acts is a consistent part of its booking identity rather than an occasional gesture.
  • The room itself is built for music: mostly standing, a low stage, clear sightlines, and a sound and lighting rig that gets cited more than the décor.
  • It is held back by an information problem rather than a venue problem — see below.

What to know

  • Important: the venue's former web domain no longer belongs to it and now redirects to an unrelated offshore gambling site. Do not use it. We link the venue's official social channel instead.
  • Hours follow the show calendar. Third-party listings show Thursday to Saturday evenings.
  • Age policy is not published and is likely to vary by show. Check the individual event.
  • It is on West Sunset Street, so plan on driving or a rideshare.

Best for. Guitar-driven touring bills, singer-songwriters and local showcases in a room where the sound system is the point.

Not ideal for. Planning ahead from a website — you will need to use the venue's social channels or a ticketing platform.

Archie's Lounge

1817 E Grand St, Springfield, MO 65804

73 / 100·live music

Archie's Lounge on East Grand Street is a dive bar with a dance floor, pool tables, a jukebox and a heated outdoor patio, open seven days a week from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. It runs live music every Friday and Saturday night and every other Sunday, and states plainly that it never charges a cover.

Why it ranks here

  • It publishes everything a guest needs and most venues here do not: hours, a stated 21-and-over door policy, a no-cover policy and a live-music schedule. That earns full marks on Information Quality, which only two other venues in this guide manage.
  • Free live music twice a week, plus alternate Sundays, is a real recurring commitment rather than an occasional booking.
  • Open seven days a week from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. — the widest published operating window in the guide.
  • It ranks where it does on location rather than quality: East Grand Street cannot be folded into a downtown night, and the room is a dive bar rather than a designed space.

What to know

  • Open Monday to Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 a.m.
  • The venue states plainly: 21 and over.
  • Never a cover charge — stated by the venue.
  • Live music Friday and Saturday from 9:00 p.m., and every other Sunday from 5:00 p.m.
  • There is a dance floor, pool tables, a jukebox and a heated outdoor patio with games.

Best for. Free live music on a Friday or Saturday, in a room with a dance floor, pool tables and a heated patio — seven days a week until 1:30 a.m.

Not ideal for. Anyone under 21, and anyone building a walkable downtown night.

Bizarre Bar

300 Park Central East, Springfield, MO 65806

72 / 100·nightclubs

Bizarre Bar sits on Park Central East and hangs original work by local artists throughout the venue. Its calendar is deliberately eclectic — stand-up comedy, DJ nights, college nights, local showcases and themed parties — and is published through the Downtown Springfield Association's events calendar.

Why it ranks here

  • Showing original work by local artists throughout the venue is a real concept, consistently applied, and it makes the room genuinely different to stand in.
  • The calendar is unusually broad for a single venue, moving between comedy, DJ nights and live showcases rather than committing to one lane.
  • Its Park Central East address puts it in the densest part of the downtown nightlife walk, with a patio on the street.
  • It carries the lowest Information Quality score in the ranking: no official website, no venue-published hours, no published age policy. That is a substantial deduction and the main reason it sits at 11 rather than higher.

What to know

  • Third-party listings show Tuesday to Thursday 6:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., Friday and Saturday noon to 1:30 a.m., closed Sunday and Monday. These are not confirmed by the venue.
  • The Downtown Springfield Association events calendar is the most reliable source for what is actually on.
  • No age policy is published. Some third-party sources describe it as welcoming 18-and-over crowds; we have not been able to verify this and do not publish it as fact.
  • There is an outdoor patio.

Best for. A downtown night where the room itself is worth looking at, and the calendar might be comedy, a DJ or a local showcase.

Not ideal for. Anyone who wants to know in advance exactly what is on.

Eyrie Rooftop Bar & Kitchen

430 South Ave, Springfield, MO 65806

71 / 100·cocktail bars

Eyrie is the rooftop bar and kitchen atop the Moxy Springfield Downtown on South Avenue, serving cocktails and food with an aerial view over the city. It runs a daily happy hour and live music on Thursday evenings.

Why it ranks here

  • Springfield has very few genuine rooftops, and Eyrie is one of only three in this ranking — the setting alone is a differentiator.
  • A weekly live music slot on Thursday evenings gives it more of a calendar than most hotel bars maintain.
  • A daily happy hour makes it more approachable than its hotel-bar pricing would otherwise suggest.
  • It ranks below Vantage because its published information is thinner and its hours are explicitly weather-dependent, which makes planning harder.

What to know

  • Listed hours are Monday to Thursday 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and Friday and Saturday 3:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.
  • Hours are weather-dependent. Call ahead before making the trip.
  • Happy hour runs daily, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Live music is listed on Thursdays, roughly 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
  • No age policy is published.

Best for. A rooftop drink with a downtown view, and a Thursday night with live music above the street.

Not ideal for. Cold or wet evenings, and anyone looking for a dance floor.

Lindberg's Tavern

318 W Commercial St, Springfield, MO 65803

70 / 100·live music

Lindberg's Tavern is a live music venue and kitchen on historic Commercial Street, in a building the venue and Visit Springfield both describe as Springfield's oldest bar, dating to 1870. It books local, regional and national artists regularly and runs a full food programme.

Why it ranks here

  • The building and the history are genuinely distinctive — both the venue and Visit Springfield date the bar to 1870, which is a claim no other venue here can make.
  • Live music is a standing part of the operation rather than an occasional add-on, spanning local, regional and touring artists.
  • A full kitchen with elevated pub food and a Sunday brunch makes it a whole evening rather than a stop.
  • Two things hold it back: it is on C-Street rather than downtown, and its official site has not updated its hours since 2024, so we cannot publish any.

What to know

  • We are not publishing hours for this venue. The official website's hours section still shows holiday hours from 2024, so we have no current source we trust. Check the venue's page or call before you go.
  • The venue posts its live music schedule through a linked calendar.
  • It is on Commercial Street, not downtown. Plan the trip separately.
  • Sunday brunch is part of the regular programme.

Best for. Live music and a proper meal in a historic room on C-Street, away from the downtown crush.

Not ideal for. Folding into a downtown bar crawl — C-Street is its own district.

Scratch & Co.

1736 E Sunshine St, Suite 109, Springfield, MO 65804

69 / 100·rooftop bars

Scratch & Co. opened at Plaza Towers on East Sunshine Street in the first quarter of 2026, pairing a scratch-cooking restaurant on the main level with a rooftop bar and patio above it. The two are connected by a dumbwaiter, so the rooftop serves the kitchen's food rather than a reduced bar menu.

Why it ranks here

  • It is one of only three genuine rooftops we can verify in Springfield, and the only one that is not attached to a hotel.
  • The dumbwaiter detail matters more than it sounds: it means the rooftop is a full service level rather than a terrace with a beer fridge.
  • It opened in the first quarter of 2026, which makes it one of three venues in this guide that qualify under our new-venue rule.
  • It ranks in the middle of the guide because it is a restaurant-led venue with no published nightlife programming, and because East Sunshine is a drive from everything else here.

What to know

  • Hours are Monday to Thursday 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., and Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  • The rooftop is open-air, so weather shapes the experience.
  • No age policy is published.
  • It is at Plaza Towers on East Sunshine Street, not downtown. Plan on driving.
  • A separate comedy club was announced for the same development. We have not been able to verify it as open, so we do not list it.

Best for. A rooftop drink where the kitchen behind it is the actual draw, and a group who want to eat properly before moving on.

Not ideal for. A late night — it closes well before the downtown clubs fill.

OXO Bar & Grill

2550 S Campbell Ave, Suite 800, Springfield, MO 65807

69 / 100·latin nightlife

OXO Bar & Grill on South Campbell Avenue hosts Sábado Caliente, a weekly Saturday Latin night covering reggaeton, bachata, cumbia and salsa. The event listing publishes free entry before 10:00 p.m. and $10 after. It comes from the team behind Mundos Latin Kitchen and operates as a full bar and grill the rest of the week.

Why it ranks here

  • Sábado Caliente is the most clearly defined recurring Latin night we could verify in Springfield: a fixed weekly slot with a stated musical remit and an explicit open-level welcome for dancers.
  • No cover charge for a full programmed night is unusual, and it makes the night accessible in a way ticketed events are not.
  • Running a full kitchen alongside the dance floor means the night does not have to start or end somewhere else.
  • It is scored down on Information Quality because the venue's own website blocked verification, leaving hours sourced only from third parties.

What to know

  • Sábado Caliente runs every Saturday evening, 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Entry is free before 10:00 p.m. and $10 after.
  • Third-party listings show Tuesday to Thursday 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 a.m., Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., closed Monday. Not confirmed by the venue.
  • The music is specifically reggaeton, bachata, cumbia and salsa. Dancers of all levels are welcomed.
  • It is on South Campbell Avenue, south of downtown — plan on driving.
  • No age policy is published.

Best for. Saturday Latin dancing across reggaeton, bachata, cumbia and salsa, free before 10 p.m., with food available all night.

Not ideal for. A downtown walking night, or a quiet drink on a Saturday.

Classic's Yard

1900 W Sunset St, Springfield, MO 65807

69 / 100·late night

Classic's Yard is a 20,000-square-foot indoor social sport and game centre behind the Classic Rock Coffee building on West Sunset Street, with a full bar and kitchen. It runs pickleball, fowling, Connect 4 basketball, free-throw lanes, cornhole, a golf simulator, table tennis, darts and pool, and stays open to 1:30 a.m. on the nights it trades.

Why it ranks here

  • It solves a real problem in Springfield nightlife: a group that wants a late night without a dance floor has very few options, and this is the largest of them by a wide margin.
  • The activity list is genuinely deep rather than a token pool table — pickleball courts and a golf simulator are a different proposition from a bar with darts.
  • It publishes its age policy plainly, which most venues in this guide do not.
  • It ranks mid-table because it is not music- or dance-led, and because West Sunset Street cannot be folded into a downtown night.

What to know

  • Third-party listings show public hours of Thursday to Saturday, 4:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. These are not published on the venue's own site.
  • The venue states guests must be 13 or older to enter, and that minors are permitted between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. only, accompanied by an adult.
  • There is a full bar and kitchen on site.
  • It shares a street address with The Riff; they are separate venues in the same complex.

Best for. A group night where nobody wants to stand and shout — pickleball, fowling, golf simulators and pool with a full bar attached, running to 1:30 a.m.

Not ideal for. A dance floor, live music, or a quiet drink for two.

Hour House

326 South Ave, Springfield, MO 65806

69 / 100·neighborhood bars

Hour House is downtown Springfield's dedicated karaoke bar on South Avenue, running karaoke nightly from around 9:00 p.m. alongside drag bingo, trivia and themed drag shows. It is an explicitly LGBTQ+-inclusive venue with a game room and pool tables.

Why it ranks here

  • Nightly karaoke is a genuine commitment — most bars run it once a week. Hour House builds its entire calendar around it and adds bingo, trivia and themed drag shows on top.
  • It is one of three venues in this ranking that operates as an explicitly LGBTQ+-inclusive space, and the only one of those in the South Avenue walking core.
  • A game room with pool tables gives the venue something to do between songs, which matters in a participation-led room.
  • It carries a low Information Quality score: there is no official website, and every operational detail we have comes from third-party listings.

What to know

  • Third-party listings show the venue open Tuesday to Sunday, with doors around 8:00 p.m. and karaoke from about 9:00 p.m. Not confirmed by the venue.
  • Programming beyond karaoke includes drag bingo, trivia and themed drag shows.
  • There is a game room with two pool tables.
  • No age policy is published.
  • The address, 326 South Ave, was previously part of The Outland Complex footprint.

Best for. Nightly karaoke downtown, plus drag bingo and trivia, in an explicitly LGBTQ+-inclusive room.

Not ideal for. Anyone who would rather listen than participate.

Mumbles1888

504 E Commercial St, Springfield, MO 65803

68 / 100·breweries and taprooms

Mumbles1888 opened on Historic Commercial Street in early February 2026 as Springfield Brewing Company's football pub, run with its sister distillery Ty Iechyd Da. It shows every Premier League match live, alongside a deep pour list of Springfield Brewing beers and small-batch spirits.

Why it ranks here

  • A dedicated football pub is a genuinely new category for Springfield, and committing to every Premier League fixture live is a real, checkable schedule rather than a vague promise of sport on TV.
  • The drinks list is unusually strong for a sports bar: Springfield Brewing Company's beers plus Ty Iechyd Da's small-batch spirits, both made by the operator.
  • The building is part of the appeal — it first opened in 1888 and spent more than sixty years as the Frisco Taproom.
  • It opened in February 2026, which qualifies it under our new-venue rule.
  • It ranks where it does because it closes early by nightlife standards and sits on C-Street rather than downtown.

What to know

  • Hours are Monday to Thursday 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  • The pub opens early for significant Premier League fixtures, so check before an early kick-off.
  • It is on Commercial Street, a separate district from downtown.
  • No age policy is published.

Best for. Watching football properly, with Springfield Brewing Company beer and Ty Iechyd Da spirits behind the bar.

Not ideal for. A late night — it closes at 9:00 or 10:00 p.m.

Ranked number 20

Mother's Brewing Company

215 S Grant Ave, Springfield, MO 65806

68 / 100·breweries and taprooms

Mother's Brewing Company runs a large taproom on South Grant Avenue with more than 21 taps, rotating kegged cocktails and brewery tours. It is an established fixture of the Springfield beer scene and opens seven days a week.

Why it ranks here

  • More than 21 taps is the widest published draught selection in this ranking, and the rotating kegged cocktails extend it beyond beer.
  • It opens seven days a week with clearly published hours, which makes it one of the more dependable options on the list.
  • Brewery tours give it a daytime and early-evening proposition that most venues here do not have.
  • It ranks where it does because it is not programmed as a nightlife venue: the calendar is light and the taproom closes before the night really starts.

What to know

  • Open Monday to Thursday 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and Sunday 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  • More than 21 taps, plus rotating kegged cocktails made by the bar staff.
  • Brewery tours are available.
  • No age policy is published.

Best for. An early-evening taproom session with the widest tap list in the ranking.

Not ideal for. A late night — the taproom closes at 9:00 or 10:00 p.m.

Sweet Boy's Neighborhood Bar

310 South Ave, Springfield, MO 65806

68 / 100·cocktail bars

Sweet Boy's Neighborhood Bar occupies 310 South Avenue, the space that was Scotch & Soda until it was remodelled and rebranded. It is a Good Spirits & Co. and Fried Design Co. project running a rotating cocktail menu, draft beer, punches and a signature frozen Irish coffee, with pinball in the back.

Why it ranks here

  • It publishes its prices. House cocktails at $8–$10 and shots at $4–$5 are on the menu before you walk in, and across this guide that is genuinely uncommon.
  • The rotating cocktail menu and frozen Irish coffee give it a specific identity rather than a generic bar list.
  • Its South Avenue address puts it in the densest part of the downtown walking route.
  • It ranks in the lower half because there is no programming to speak of — no calendar, no stage, no recurring night.

What to know

  • Open Tuesday to Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to bar close. Closed Monday.
  • House cocktails are published at $8–$10, shots at $4–$5.
  • There is pinball in the back.
  • No age policy is published.
  • This is the former Scotch & Soda address. Scotch & Soda no longer operates in Springfield.

Best for. A downtown cocktail that does not cost a fortune, in a room with pinball in the back and no pretension.

Not ideal for. A dance floor, or a Monday — it is closed.

Best of Luck Beer Hall

313-B S Jefferson Ave, Springfield, MO 65806

67 / 100·breweries and taprooms

Best of Luck Beer Hall on South Jefferson Avenue is built around a central games court — bocce, bags, washers and arcade machines — surrounded by 40 rotating taps, punch-style cocktails and wine.

Why it ranks here

  • The floor plan is the concept. Putting a games lawn in the middle of the room rather than shoving a dartboard in a corner produces a completely different social dynamic.
  • Forty rotating taps is a serious selection, and the punch-style cocktails and wine list widen it past beer drinkers.
  • It is downtown and walkable, which makes it easy to fold into a larger night.
  • It is closed three days a week and publishes little of its own information, both of which hold the score down.

What to know

  • Third-party listings show Wednesday and Thursday 5:00 p.m. to midnight, Friday 5:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., Saturday 2:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., and closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Not confirmed by the venue.
  • Yard games include bocce, bags and washers, alongside arcade machines.
  • Forty rotating taps, plus punch-style cocktails and wine.
  • No age policy is published.

Best for. A group night built around bocce, bags and washers with 40 taps to work through.

Not ideal for. A quiet drink, or a Sunday, Monday or Tuesday — it is closed.

Where House Bar

2463 W Sunshine St, Suite 120, Springfield, MO 65807

67 / 100·cocktail bars

Where House Bar sits inside the Metro Eats Farmers Market and Food Truck Park on West Sunshine Street, running a craft cocktail programme alongside regional draft beer and wine. Its bar is led by a Grand Marnier Caribbean Bartender of the Year winner.

Why it ranks here

  • The cocktail credentials are documented rather than claimed — the bar is run by a bartender who won Grand Marnier's Caribbean Bartender of the Year.
  • Sitting inside a food-truck park is a genuinely different proposition: you get a proper cocktail programme without the venue needing a kitchen.
  • The draft list is deliberately regional, which gives it a local identity beyond the cocktail menu.
  • It ranks in the lower half because it closes early by nightlife standards and is a drive from the downtown core.

What to know

  • Hours are Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., Monday and Tuesday 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., and Friday and Saturday 11:00 a.m. to midnight.
  • It is inside Metro Eats Farmers Market and Food Truck Park, so food comes from the trucks rather than a house kitchen.
  • No age policy is published.
  • It is on West Sunshine Street. Plan on driving.

Best for. A serious cocktail on the west side, with food-truck options a few steps away and no need to dress up.

Not ideal for. A late night — it closes at 11:00 p.m. or midnight.

Ranked number 24

Springfield Brewing Company

305 S Market Ave, Springfield, MO 65806

66 / 100·breweries and taprooms

Springfield Brewing Company has been brewing on South Market Avenue since 1997. The building houses the brewpub, an on-site distillery, and The Cellar — a live music sound lounge.

Why it ranks here

  • Beer, spirits and food under one roof, from a brewery operating since 1997, is a durable proposition, and the on-site distillery genuinely extends what the venue can offer.
  • The Cellar is a purpose-built sound lounge rather than a corner with a PA, which puts SBC in a different category from taprooms that occasionally host a band.
  • Long opening hours seven days a week, starting in the morning at weekends, make it unusually flexible.
  • There is a real information gap: Visit Springfield describes live music at The Cellar five times a week, but the venue's current homepage publishes no schedule at all. We do not publish the frequency claim, and the score reflects the gap.

What to know

  • Brewpub hours are Monday to Thursday 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Saturday 10:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and Sunday 10:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  • The Cellar is the venue's live music lounge. Its current schedule is not published on the venue's site — check with the venue directly.
  • There is an on-site distillery in addition to the brewery.
  • No age policy is published.

Best for. Beer, spirits and food in one place, with the option of live music downstairs in The Cellar.

Not ideal for. Planning a night around a specific band, since The Cellar's schedule is not currently published.

Moon City Pub

420 W Commercial St, Springfield, MO 65803

65 / 100·neighborhood bars

Moon City Pub is a small neighbourhood pub on historic Commercial Street, reopened in August 2024 by three former employees who bought the business. It runs live music, open mic nights and trivia from a compact stage, alongside a full pub menu.

Why it ranks here

  • The reopening story is documented and specific: three former staff members bought the pub and reopened it on 6 August 2024, which is a real and verifiable commitment to the room.
  • For a venue this size, the programming is substantial — live music, open mic and trivia all recur.
  • The kitchen is a genuine part of the offer rather than an afterthought.
  • It ranks near the bottom of the twenty mainly on scale and information: it is a small room on C-Street with no official website.

What to know

  • Third-party listings show Monday 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Tuesday to Thursday 11:00 a.m. to midnight, and Friday and Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. Not confirmed by the venue.
  • The stage is small; this is intimate live music rather than a concert room.
  • It is on Commercial Street, a separate district from downtown.
  • No age policy is published.

Best for. A low-key C-Street night with live music, open mic or trivia, and food that goes beyond crisps.

Not ideal for. A big room or a dance floor.

The Flea

637 S Kimbrough Ave, Springfield, MO 65806

62 / 100·neighborhood bars

The Flea is an eclectic neighbourhood bar on South Kimbrough Avenue with indoor and outdoor seating, pool tables and games. It opens seven days a week and runs until 1:30 a.m. on weekdays and Saturdays.

Why it ranks here

  • It earns one of the highest value scores in this ranking: reasonable pricing, no cover, and open seven days a week including a full run to 1:30 a.m.
  • Pool tables, games and a mix of indoor and outdoor seating give it more to do than its size suggests.
  • It is close enough to downtown to work as a start or an end to a night without needing a plan.
  • It sits at twenty because it is not a programmed venue — there is no calendar to score, and no published information of the venue's own.

What to know

  • Third-party listings show Monday to Saturday noon to 1:30 a.m., and Sunday 4:00 p.m. to midnight. Not confirmed by the venue.
  • There are pool tables and games, plus indoor and outdoor seating.
  • No age policy is published.
  • There is no official website; the venue's social channel is the working source.

Best for. An unfussy, inexpensive night with pool, games and a patio, seven days a week.
