Request a correction

By SGF After Dark Editorial DeskPublished Last reviewed Methodology

If we have something wrong about your venue, we want to fix it. Corrections are free, they are actioned as soon as we can verify them, and they have no effect on your placement in either direction.

That last point matters, so we will state it plainly: we do not offer ranking changes in exchange for contact, cooperation, media or anything else. Placement is determined editorially against the published rubric. A correction can change a score only where it changes a fact the rubric actually scores — for example, if you publish hours we could not previously verify, that improves your Information Quality score because the underlying situation improved, not because you asked.

What you can request

A factual correction
Anything we have stated that is wrong. Tell us what is incorrect, what it should say, and where we can verify it.
Updated hours
We publish hours only from a current source. If ours are stale, or if we are showing none because we could not verify yours, send us the current hours and a link to where they are published.
An updated website or social channel
Particularly important if a domain has changed hands. We found one venue's former domain redirecting to an unrelated site, and we will not link a domain we cannot verify still belongs to you.
An updated address
Including a relocation. We will re-verify and update the district and directions link.
An updated category or concept
If your venue's operating concept has changed, tell us. Category assignment affects which lists you appear in.
An age policy or pricing update
We only publish these where a venue or primary source states them. If you publish yours and we have missed it, send the link and we will add it.
Venue-provided media
We publish no photography we do not have documented rights to. If you want to supply images, we need explicit written permission covering use on this publication, plus any attribution you require.
A closure notice
If your venue has closed or is closing, tell us and we will remove it promptly. We would much rather hear it from you than find out from a reader.

How to send it

Editorial inbox not yet live. SGF After Dark is in prelaunch review and does not yet have a public contact address for corrections. One will be published here before the guide goes live. We would rather show nothing than an address that silently bounces.

When the inbox is live, corrections should carry “Correction” in the subject line and include:

  • The venue name and the page the error appears on
  • What we currently say
  • What it should say
  • A link to where the correct information is published, or confirmation that you are the operator
  • Your name and role at the venue

What happens next

  1. 1.We acknowledge the request.
  2. 2.We verify the correct information against your official channel or another primary source. We cannot publish a fact on an email alone if it contradicts what your own published information says — but we will tell you that, and usually the fix is to update your listing too.
  3. 3.We update the page and set a new verification date.
  4. 4.Where a correction materially changes what we previously published, we note it on the venue profile rather than editing silently.

Readers can report errors too

You do not have to run a venue to tell us we are wrong. If you turned up somewhere and the hours were different, the door policy was not what we said, or the place has closed, that is genuinely useful — email us the same way.
